workshop autoconstrucción PICS: Publc identity and common spaces_ universitá Roma3

En el mes de mayo fuimos invitados al workshop PICS, para devolver una utilidad pública a un entorno paisajistacamente privilegiado y con una fuerte demanda social. El workshop se enmarca en el proyecto de investigación LUS Living Urban Scape y en colaboración con el Master “Arti Architettura Città” del Departamento de Arquitectura de la “Università degli Studi Roma Tre”. Se formaron tres grupos de estudiantes a cargo de tres equipos internacionales François Vadepied e Mathieu Gontier de Wagon Landscaping – Paris; German Vanzuela  dir. Universidad De Talca (Cile) y François Guynot de Boismenu de la L’école nationale supérieure d’architecture de Paris La Villette;  gravalosdimonte de estonoesunsolar. Previamente los estudiantes habían realizado unos recorridos intuitivos (una “deriva”) y elaborados unos mapas dirigidos por Francesco Careri. Cada grupo trabajó en una zona concreta del “Parchetto Feronia” y realizó una intervención en función del material (tablas de 20.5.400 , 15.2.400 y 5.5.400) y del tiempo disponible: 6días. Se trataba de un ejercicio de reflexión sobre las intervenciones mínimas, sobre la relación del material con el paisaje y con la temporalidad, sobre la autoconstrucción.

Junto con los estudiantes, detectamos tres líneas de intervención:

1. “Bosco a dóndole”. Un recorrido semioculto que comunicaba los dos niveles del parque rodeado de grandes chopos.
2. “Stazione Feronia”. Un conjunto de árboles que ofrecían  sombra en lugar próximo a la zona existente de juegos infantiles.
3. Un sistema de señalización que pusiera en valor los recorridos y creara una red de las intervenciones realizads en el workshop.

 El “bosco a dóndole” se situó en una de las zonas más hermosas del parque, al final de un recorrido en pendiente, que disponía de grandes chopos en los laterales y un tapiz de hiedra que invadía el terreno. La idea fue no alterar el plano del suelo, (no luchar contra un elemento invasivo), por lo que se crearon unos bancos con una geometría irregular que iba adaptándose a la disposición de los troncos, casi materializando su sombra, y que irían suspendidos de los árboles mediante cuerdas, flotando, ingrávidos, permitiendo a los vecinos “flotar” en el aire. Se trataba de una zona especial, que al anochecer se inundaba de luciérnagas que mostraban unos bancos voladores a través de un cielo punteado.

Iniciativas ciudadanas en el marco de estonoesunsolar: «enganchados al deporte»

Otra iniciativa ciudadana posible gracias a la trasformación de espacios degradados en espacios públicos del programa estonoesunsolar. Esta vez se trata de : «Enganchados al deporte» un nuevo proyecto de carácter deportivo, social y cultural que surge en la ciudad de Zaragoza con el fin de promover la actividad física y hacerla accesible a todos los públicos. La idea de este proyecto es huir de los estereotipos meramente competitivos del deporte y ofrecer actividades que fomenten la ocupación saludable del tiempo de ocio, la participación ciudadana, el compañerismo, la convivencia intergeneracional; en definitiva, transmitir los valores positivos del deporte. El PICH, a través de la Fundación Federico Ozanam, se encarga de impulsar este novedoso proyecto. Enganchados al deporte ofrece un programa abierto a niños, jóvenes y adultos de toda la ciudad, los eventos se desarrollarán en las inmediaciones del Casco Histórico, para promover el barrio, revitalizar espacios públicos y contribuir en la utilización y mejora de las instalaciones lúdico-deportivas de la zona.Enganchados al deporte consiste en la puesta en marcha de seis eventos deportivos gratuitos distribuidos en la segunda mitad del año 2013. Se trata de ofrecer actividades variadas, diferentes y aptas para todas las edades. Un torneo de baloncesto, kayak en el río Ebro, una carrera de orientación nocturna y patinaje son sólo algunas de las actividades de las que podrán disfrutar las personas que quieran participar. La primera actividad, relacionada con el baloncesto, se realizará durante la mañana del 27 de julio en el Solar Casta Álvarez de 10 a 14h. Entidades como la FAB (Federación Aragonesa de Baloncesto), Tododeporte Aragón y Cierzo Urban Trends colaboran y apoyan esta primera actividad. Constará de un torneo de 3×3 para los más aficionados a este deporte (previa inscripción) y de un espacio libre destinado a las personas que quieran iniciarse en el que dispondrán de un monitor que les planteará juegos y diferentes actividades. texto e imagen de: David Monteagudo + Javi Royo

1_objetive. Contemporary cities present a wide variety of unresolved issues, as shown by the many different abandoned empty plots and empty buildings existing in the urban fabric. This situation has been taken advantage of by the inhabitants of Zaragoza as an opportunity to intervene directly in the city. The “Estonoesunsolar” programme of Zaragoza City Council, commits to the recovery of PUBLIC SPACE as the backbone of today’s city, through the occupation of empty plots for tremporary public use. “Estonoesunsolar” started off with temporary interventions in abandoned plots in the historical quarter of the city, of public and private ownership.  Later, given their great success, they spread to the rest of the city.The programme offers a quick answer to the needs of each neighbourhood, analysing the socio-economic conditions, amenities and green spaces that already exist, as well as the deficiencies of each area.  Social cohesion is favoured through citizen participation processes. At the same time, many different cultural and educational activities have been carried out that emphasise the value of the interventions, inviting citizens to experience these spaces. The program’s initial goal was to develop an Employment Plan, which should involve 50 workers for cleaning empty plots of the Historic Center of Zaragoza. On that premise, it raised the possibility of developing a set of proposals, that beyond strictly complying with the objectives, allowed the temporary occupation of the empty plots, offering a range of temporary uses for these frequently misunderstood places.. These proposals start from the program «everyday gaps (los vacíos cotidianos),» held in 2006 within the framework of  «en la frontera (on the edge)» of Zaragoza, in which the same authors were able to begin testing the ideas about the temporary occupation of sites, this time in an “artistic” context, with different constraints but holding the same concepts.

2_ the accident. The proposals arise from the observation of different and numerous existing sites in the context of Zaragoza historic city center, assumed as unexplained gaps in many cases (and surprising in most of them). In some of the sites, the demolition of a small wall has been enough for a sudden vacuum to appear, showing cold in their nakedness, out of context, and that surprisingly opens up new visuals, hidden until then, to create a new contemporary urban space. There is a reading of the city with the codes of an «non-written urbanism«, spontaneous in some cases, and consolidated in others. In this regard, and given that applications are developed following studies of needs demanded by associations and neighbours, it is a flexible tool to start responding to specific problems.

3_the  vacuum. Value has been put in the suggestion of emptiness, the void, the invisible and silence. These temporary loosening of the plot is a dynamic tool, changing (temporarily), allowing a flexible and alternative reading of the city and the public spaces. It aims for non-material and ethereal solutions , expressing the provisional nature of its presence and establish a dialectic with their in-built environments. Vacuum is hoped to be the creator of situations and events.

4_the name. From the outset it was considered essential to find a name for the interventions, which give meaning to a program without program, without a property owner, to a un built site, to a nameless space. The program was called «estonoesunsolar”(this-is-not-an-empty-site). It was desired to escape from the constraints imposed by words and their meanings, with the intention from the beginning, to propose a new look (this is not a site, this is not what it looks like, look at it with different eyes …). In short, it was an invitation to think again, to imagine possible contents, to propose new situations and create passionate places (to make a privileged place from every idea).
